The 2021 Volkswagen Golf GTi TCR is coming to South Africa and will be arriving in late July. Only 300 will be sent from the Wolfsburg plant to South Africa. Find out why this is one of the most exciting models coming to SA!

The 2021 Volkswagen Golf GTi TCR

The Volkswagen Golf GTi TCR would replace the current model and is expected to come with new features such as a diesel engine. The car will be released in South Africa in 2021 and is estimated to cost around R1,400,000.

Differences between the 2020 and 2021 models

The 2020 Volkswagen Golf GTi TCR shares the same chassis as the regular 2020 model. However, the 2021 model is improved with a couple of new components that are not present on the 2019 model.

What to Expect from the TCR in SA

In the upcoming South African TCR round, the GTi will enter the scene with a new turbocharged 200 horsepower engine and a lighter curb weight. It will also have some of the best safety features on the market which includes a front radar that uses a 360-degree surround view and can detect objects in front of you.

The price of the 2021 Volkswagen Golf GTi TCR will be set at R199000. That is around $150000.

After a year of speculation, the 2021 Volkswagen Golf GTi TCR is finally confirmed for SA. What it means to South Africans is that the car will be incredibly affordable due to it’s price tag, yet at the same time boasts a 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 261 kW and 630Nm of torque and a six-speed manual gearbox. VW will also be offering this vehicle in a range of cool and exclusive colours and with special and extensive detailing options.
